| SDG BelAir FX Saddle |
|
| A few years ago, SDG's product
honcho was at Whistler, getting set up on a Kona DH demo bike
when he noticed that a lot of the bikes were out of commission
because the saddle rails were broken. He went back to work determined
to design a stronger saddle that could handle the abuse dished
out by down-hillers and free riders. In a flash of brilliance,
he conceived of a system to replace saddle rails with a single
carbon-composite beam. The new system was much stronger but
he also discovered a few unexpected benefits: a dramatic reduction
in weight, 200% more fore-aft adjustment to fit a wider range
of riders, and super simple one bolt adjustment. Who would have
expected that a well-padded I-Beam saddle designed for all mountain
riding would weigh less than a super skinny racing saddle with
Ti rails? When we spotted SDG's innovative new technology, we
had to have it. So we collaborated with SDG to develop a series
of custom saddles and seat posts exclusively for Dahon. The
combination of our BelAir FX and SuperOversize SDG I-Beam Pro
results in a total weight less than our old carbon seat post
and Ti rail saddle. |
