Who are we?
In June 2011 a new bike brand was launched by Josh and Florence Hon with their team of about 75 people based all over the world. The new brand is called Tern Bicycles (www.ternbicycles.com) and Cyclemotion became the UK Official Partner. Tern Bicycles is to be available in the UK through an exclusive network of independent retailers, headed up by Evans Cycles who are from mid October 2011 appointed as the exclusive importer and distributor. Cyclemotion will be responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating marketing and sales for Tern bikes in the UK, helping Evans to extend distribution through their own network of shops and complimentary independent bicycle retailers.
From January 2006 till June 2011 Mark Bickerton was appointed agent of Dahon Folding Bikes representing Dahon's interests in the UK. After nearly 30 years of working closely with Dahon as a brand, this relationship ceased with the launch of Tern Bicycles.
Cyclemotion also acts on a consultancy basis to advise on matters relating to import and distribution of bikes or carry out specific projects for companies in the bike and leisure industries
1996 to 2005 “Cyclemotion” was originally formed as a division of
Amethyst Group Ltd and
MCL Group Ltd
headed up by Mark Bickerton. Cyclemotion was an importer and distributor of bicycles in July 1996. Over the last 30 years he has had experience of design, manufacture, import and distribution of bicycles including
Bickerton Portable Bikes.
From 1992 to 1996 Mark Bickerton had imported Dahon bikes as part of the activities for Fusion Cycles Ltd selling Dahon, Klein, Fusion and Voodoo bicycles.
From 1982 to 1991 he was involved as manager and latterly MD of Bickerton Rowlinson
Ltd, the manufacturer of Bickerton Portable
Bicycles. Whilst running Bickerton
Bicycles, he imported Dahon folding bikes branded Bickerton Dahon and Bickerton Californian and some early Mountain bikes called the Bickerton Mean Green.
Cyclemotion is proud to be a member of the Bicycle Association of GB
and is a contributor to the Bike Hub industry levy scheme.
Mark Bickerton is a long standing member of the Bicycle Association of GB and was elected Vice-President in August 2008 and President in June 2011. He was a founding member of the Bike Hub Levy Scheme Committee. As part of his role representing the BA he regularly attends the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group and the Cycling Stakeholder Forum initiated by Norman Baker, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport.
